I'm
Joe Armstrong, and I live in Saegertown, in northwest Pennsylvania. When I
graduated from high school, I enrolled in the Marine Corps, which also helped to
fund my college education. I am a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh,
with a degree in visual communications and illustration. Following college, I
began a career in advertising, but soon tired of living in the city. My love of
the outdoors cut my advertising career short, as city life wasn't for me.
So, I went home, met my wife Ranee and started a family. We now have two sons,
Adam and Zachary. With a family to support I started Armstrong Tree Service.
With an
ample supply of wood and long winters I was given the opportunity to develop my art
skills in a new direction, and what you see here is the result. What started as
a hobby is now turning into a career, combining my art skills with my love of
the outdoors. I hope you enjoy viewing the carvings as much as I love creating
them.
